As teen sensation Justin Bieber and 10-year-old "America's Got Talent" contestant Jackie Evancho have already proven, you can be young and still have a set of pipes that can make you a star. It's something that "American Idol" is also witnessing after lowering its age limit to 15 in June.

According to People.com, new judge Jennifer Lopez was quite surprised by the young talent during rehearsals in Las Vegas. "The 15- and 16-year-olds really have been some of the biggest surprises to us and the ones who have really blew us away," she said.

The show went to Sin City with 60 contestants after Hollywood Week, and will be eliminating potential contestants before heading back to Los Angeles with 40 hopefuls.

Returning judge Randy Jackson told reporters that "this is the best talent we've ever had," but pointed out that the judges aren't looking for just an amazing voice in the 10th season. "We're looking for that ultimate idol ... not just singers," he said.

Better get working on that stage presence, kids! "Idol" kicks off on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
