While fans of the hit ABC series “Dancing With the Stars” are waiting to find out if Lance Bass will take to the dance floor with a male dancer partner, “DWTS’s” Cheryl Burke thinks America is not ready to see two men tango.

“I don’t think that would happen,” Burke told E!’s gossip guru Marc Malkin at Maxim magazine’s Extreme Sports party Thursday at the Stork in Hollywood. “I don’t think America is ready to watch two men dancing.”

But GLAAD, a LGBT media organization, thinks ABC might surprise everyone with a bold move.

“ABC has shown an admirable commitment to representing gay people on many of their most popular shows,” a GLAAD rep said in a statement to E!. “And we hope they continue to build on that in the future.”

However, GLAAD isn’t the only one hoping for a man-tango. “DWTS” season one winner Kelly Monaco is all for the idea of Bass having a male partner.

“If you want to shock the world and give them something new, I think it’s fantastic,” Monaco told E!. “I support it 100 percent!”

“Dancing With the Stars” returns Sept. 22 with a live three-night premiere.

ABC will formally reveal the show’s seventh-season cast during “Good Morning America’s” Aug. 25 broadcast.
