Will Smith, who starred on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" with the late actor James Avery, remembered his co-star Monday on Facebook.

More than a million Facebook users liked Smith's remembrance, and tens of thousands shared it and commented on it.

Avery died Dec. 31 at age 68 due to complications from open-heart surgery, his publicist told TODAY.

Avery's final film, "Wish I Was Here," will premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival. It will come to theaters in September.
