Will Neil Patrick Harris' Twins Guest Star on How I Met Your Mother?

Just one more reason to love the man who suits up like nobody's business: Neil Patrick Harris (aka Barney Stinson).

Coming off of his favorite TV comedy actor win last night at the People's Choice Awards (hooray!), he chatted with us about his plans for his twin babies (hint: there's a Grey's Anatomy joke we love!) and how How I Met Your Mother is becoming "more Lost than ever"...

"I can't believe it! I can't believe it! I wasn't expecting this. I thought it would be a big Glee sweep." That's what a visibly surprised NPH told us after his win, adding that he was "all freaked out about it" when he won a People's Choice Award 21 years ago for Doogie Howser. "I'm still freaked out about it now," he added.

After How I Met Your Mother boss Carter Bays joked to me that Harris' (and partner David Burtka's) twins are "well connected" and might appear on the show as Lily and Marshall's new babies, we asked NPH for the odds on that happening.

"Well, we have an exclusive deal with Grey's Anatomy, so I don't think we could!" he said with a laugh. Then he leaned over to our producer who was standing by taking notes: "That's a joke. You, with the pen, writing the thing. A joke. Great. That's going to become its own thing: 'Neil's whoring his children out to ABC!' [Laughs.] No, no plans. Babies will be babies."

As for the most recent episode, Neil admits he was just as shaken as the rest of us with what went down. (Stop reading if you haven't watched it yet! No, really!)

"How about that Marshall? How about Alyson Hannigan's eyes? The two of them together at the end, that scene? I didn't see them shoot that scene, I wasn't there. I wept!"

Neil insists the upcoming storylines are more top secret and intense than anything they've done before. "We filmed the last three episodes [under] a big veil of secrecy. We know nothing. We're more like Lost than ever."

OK, but Papa Marshall best not show up in a rocking chair in Jacob's cabin!

Neil also says he's not yet to the braggy photo-sharing phase of fatherhood, though he's sure it's coming. "It seems like such a private thing to be that guy at this point. They're so young. I'll wait until I can teach them to do tricks with biscuits and stuff, and then I'll really show them off."

Shonda Rhimes and Grey's casting peeps: just something to keep on the back burner.
