After their nuptials were canceled at the last minute almost two weeks ago, Usher finally wed his former stylist Tameka Foster this past weekend. According to People magazine, however, one person was noticeably absent from the affair — Usher’s mother.
A source close to Usher’s family told the magazine that the singer’s mother, Jonetta Patton, spent her son’s wedding day at a spa in Atlanta.
Usher and Foster canceled their original wedding ceremony for undisclosed reasons/. It was set to take place at the home of record producer L.A. Reid. A week later they married, reportedly in a civil ceremony in Usher’s lawyer’s Atlanta office.
The second try, People reports, was a much smaller affair than the couple’s original plans. “Some people didn’t know about (the civil wedding) until a day later,” the source told People. “But that’s Usher and Tameka for you. One thing one day and a whole other thing the next.”
It is unclear whether Patton simply didn’t get an invitation or just chose to skip the event. Patton and Foster do not get along, according to several media sources.
In related news, Usher and Foster, who are expecting their first child together, are expected to host a party before the summer is over, in Atlanta.
A call to Usher's rep was not returned.
