Week in Review: Demi Lovato Drops an Angst Bomb

MELTDOWN OF THE WEEK: A troubled Demi Lovato couldn't stand one more minute of being on tour with the Jonas Brothers and all of a sudden (or so it seemed) checked into treatment to deal with issues of both the emotional and physical variety. Besides the fact that no girl in her right mind would go on tour with his ex and his new girlfriend (except if you're in Fleetwood Mac, maybe), it shows a certain maturity on her--and her support system's--part to nip this thing in the bud and get help. Sonny With a Chance, indeed.

Sonny With a Chance, indeed.

Read on for more of the week's biggest stories:

ENGAGEMENT OF THE WEEK: Just when we thought Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo were going to run away with the title, we find out Eddie Cibrian's going to make an honest woman of LeAnn Rimes. Let's just say, our exclusive didn't go over too well with the blissfully happy couple, and then Rimes went and picked a Twitter fight! Hmph, we'll show them. Pretty soon, they'll be the "Wedding of the Week," and there won't be anything either of them can do about it! Mwahahahaha.

TRAGEDY OF THE WEEK: Discovery Channel revealed that Storm Chasers star Matt Hughes was no longer with us, which was followed by the revelation that he committed suicide in May. That news was followed by authorities finding the body of onetime Bachelorette contestant Julien Hug, who also committed suicide. Our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to both men's families.

COMEBACK OF THE WEEK: In response to George W. Bush shuddering with distaste at Kanye West and his implication that the 42nd president was racist, West benignly said that he now understand s George W. Bush on a human level because of all the heat he took following the Taylor Swift incident. Kanye, be glad you have no idea what you're talking about.

NONAFFAIR OF THE WEEK: Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus' mom? The rocker and Trish Cyrus both adamantly denied rumors that an illicit hookup led to Trish's breakup with Billy Ray Cyrus. Which is a relief, because one famous teenager needing treatment for emotional issues this week is enough.

MORE: Is there a Disney star curse?

SPLIT OF THE WEEK: Charlie Sheen made it to the finish line just ahead of Brooke Mueller, blindsiding her with a divorce petition before the previously agreed upon time they had come up with to end their craptastic (of late, anyway) marriage. In related news, Charlie also cheated death this week.
