Katherine Heigl plays a woman on the hunt for love in her new comedy, “The Ugly Truth.”
In real life though, the actress is happily married to musician Josh Kelley, and she told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson that children will definitely be in their future.
“I know you had talked about possibly wanting to adopt children,” Robinson said.
“Yeah!” Heigl confirmed.
“In the future, do you think that’s something you will do?” Robinson asked.
“Oh yeah,” Heigl replied.
When asked if children are on the imminent horizon, Heigl said she and Kelley are thinking about it, but aren’t quite ready.
“Soon-ish, maybe,” she laughed. “I don’t know. I mean, we’re working on it. It’s just we are super crazed.”
Heigl said she and her husband are both busy at the minute — Kelley with his music and she with her “Grey’s Anatomy” role and films like “The Ugly Truth” — so it may be a little while longer before they expand their brood.
“You want to be sure that we can both slow down just enough,” she said. “Neither one of us want to give up our careers, neither one of us want to, you know, just be parents, but you have to slow down a little bit in order to devote the time that’s needed.”
Heigl revealed that her desire to adopt comes from her own family.
“My sister [Meg] is Korean. My parents adopted her in the ‘70s,” she said. “I just grew up that way and she’s one of my bestest friends and she’s my sister too and I just felt like I kind of want that in my family too.”
