It's down to the final five on "The Voice," and the competition is at its most intense as contestants Kristen Merlin, Christina Grimmie, Kat Perkins, Josh Kaufman and Jake Worthington prepare to put on performances that prove them worthy of a spot in the finale showdown. It's going to take a lot for them to pull that off, but the last remaining member of Team Blake believes he has a special edge.
In fact, 18-year-old Worthington has had his edge by his side all along — his mom.
"You know, my mom being here has been an absolute blessing," he told TODAY ahead of Monday night's show. "I love her to death. If she wasn't here, I couldn't do this. She's my backbone."
But Wendy Worthington is humble about her role.
"I'm just mom," she said. "It's what moms do. You do anything for your kids."
