'Voice' coaches dance around topic of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's romance

The reality competition show's coaches have turned not talking about Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's love life into a new form of entertainment.

Getting "The Voice" coaches to sit down and talk about the great season the show is having? No problem. Getting those same coaches to talk about the romantic elephant in the room — Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's romance — well, that's a whole other story.

Not that TODAY's Natalie Morales didn't try, mind you.

"Is it good to just be out in the open now?" she asked Shelton and Stefani during an interview with all four coaches.

"That was a nice segue," quipped Pharrell Williams.

"Next question!" sang Adam Levine. And when Morales pressed, he continued, "Ask the next question before it gets awkward."

Note who didn't say anything!

Of course, that's not the only relationship worth discussing. Asked what song would represent Levine's bromance with Shelton, things got downright racy.

"You know that song 'That Smell'?" Shelton asked about the 1977 classic by Lynyrd Skynyrd. "Or what about 'Lick It Up'?" he added, referring to a 1983 hit by KISS.

So mature! But that's what makes it fun to talk to the coaches, even if you never get a straight answer.

"The Voice" airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
