The ex-wife of singer Usher has broken her silence two days after her 5-year-old son nearly drowned in a swimming pool accident in Atlanta.

Tameka Foster tweeted on Wednesday that the boy, Usher Raymond V, is "doing much better" since being hospitalized after being rescued from a pool Monday at the singer's residence. The boy got stuck in a drain and had to be freed by contractors working at the home, according to police.

Foster said that her son was "talking and asking for food" and she thanked followers for their well wishes and prayers.

Foster followed that tweet with another saying she hasn't "gone anywhere or done anything" with the word #Relax hashtagged at the end.

Usher and Foster wed in 2007 and divorced in 2009. The singer received primary custody of their two sons in 2012. But after Monday's incident, Foster took legal steps to revisit their agreement. An emergency hearing is scheduled for Friday.
