The Kids are looking good--we're just not sure about the rest of the nominees for the NAACP Image Awards.
Adding to its growing list of accolades, The Kids Are All Right, the comedy about artificial insemination starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo, earned a Best Picture nod at the NAACP Image Awards.
Given the rest of the lower-wattage contenders, Kids could be the only legit Oscar nominee in the bunch.
The Kids Are All Right will go up against a field that includes Just Wright, The Book of Eli and two Tyler Perry flicks, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? and For Colored Girls.
Speaking of the hit-making filmmaker, Perry dominated this year's Image Award noms, accounting for a whopping 19, including the two for Best Picture. In fact, cast members from For Colored Girls scored four of the five Best Supporting Actress slots, garnering nods for Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Kimberly Elise and Anika Noni Rose. The lone remaining spot in the category went to Jill Scott for Why Did I Get Married Too?
On the tube side, director-writer-actor also picked up a Best Comedy Series nod for Tyler's House of Payne, while that show and Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns grabbed a host of acting nominations.
But our favorite showdown comes in the Best Comedy Series category, where Fox's Glee will face off against nemesis Modern Family for an Image Award, a highly anticipated rematch since Glee lost out to Modern Family at last year's Emmys.
On the music end of things, Jay-Z and new partner in crime Kanye West will be facing off with Ne-Yo, Usher and Cee Lo Green for Best Male Artist; Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Chrisette Michele, Corinne Bailey Rae and Sade will contend for Best Female Artist.
The teaming of Eminem and Rihanna, John Legend and The Roots and The Black Eyed Peas scored nominations for Best Outstanding Duo or Group.
The 42nd NAACP Image Awards, honoring outstanding achievements of people of color in the arts, will air live on Fox March 4.
