Remember when crowds of cheering fans assembled outside MTV's Times Square studio in hopes of catching a glimpse of Britney Spears, 'NSYNC or Destiny's Child on "Total Request Live"?
"TRL" was an afternoon ritual for many millennials, who rushed home to catch the daily countdown of music videos, root for their favorite pop stars and watch artists' interviews with Carson Daly, who served as host of the wildly popular show from 1998 to 2002.

In honor of TODAY's Halloween celebration of all things '90s, Daly revisited his old gig to introduce the anchors' costumes re-creating the pop culture moments that defined the decade.

And few "TRL" fans could forget Carson's black nail polish. In 2013, Daly revealed that his penchant for dark digits stemmed from his earlier work in alternative rock radio during the grunge movement.

If that wasn't enough to pique your nostalgia, here's a look back at Carson posing with some familiar faces during his (real) "TRL" days!
