After their star-studded lavish ceremony in Bracciano, the new Mr. and Mrs. Cruise flew over 4,500 miles for 10 hours on Sunday from Rome to the glorious Maldive Islands.
Described as “a string of pearls,” the Maldives are over 1,000 tropical, coral islands in the Indian Ocean known for their exclusive romantic resorts, exquisite scuba diving and spas.
The capital is Male (pronounced Mah-lay) and the main industries are tourism and fishing. Because Islam is the prominent religion, Katie will be expected to cover her body and thighs if she and Tom go off-resort to visit the inhabited islands.

According to the weather report, it looks like the newlyweds can expect rain on Monday and Tuesday, but since it’s a tropical island, the showers are typically scattered and brief.
