Throwback Thursday: Show us your first car

Slide in an 8-track and adjust that rear-view: It's Throwback Thursday, and this week, we pay tribute to our first cars.

As the Volkswagen bus, aka Type 2, enters its final days of production, many are feeling nostalgia for the iconic auto. To celebrate, the TODAY anchors will be sharing their first rides.

Carson recalls his first car: a 1990 Ford Probe with a license plate that read "WHTICE." Yes, you read that right.

"It was new, ran great. I had an alpine pull-out CD player because Easy E told me to," Carson said. "With that personalized plate and the tinted windows, I was a dead ringer for a drug dealer. Not to mention the beeper I had on my belt. Four words: What was I thinking?"

Martha Stewart and Jenna Bush Hager joined Carson in the Orange Room Thursday morning, and let him in on their first rides — for Stewart, it was a 1960s yellow Mercedes Sedan. For Jenna, a used 1991 blue Jeep Grand Cherokee that she had to share with her sister.

"We got in quite a few fender benders. That's why our parents made sure it was used," Jenna said.

We know you've got some great first car stories and photos too — after all, your first car always holds a special place in your heart. Show us your first set of wheels using #TODAYtbt on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and we may share some of them on air and online.
