The whirlwind romance between pop star Taylor Swift and movie star Tom Hiddleston has whirled to a stop, according to reports.
The pair, who were first photographed cuddling and kissing on a Rhode Island shore on June 12, haven't made an official announcement about the end of their summer fling yet, but People cited a source who characterized the breakup as "an amicable" one.
During their three months together, the couple's frequent and affectionate public outings in the presence of paparazzi led some to speculate that the relationship wasn't real but rather an attempt to gain headlines. "The Avengers" actor set the record straight about that just one month into their courtship.
"Well, um. How best to put this?" Hiddleston said when asked about the veracity of it all by The Hollywood Reporter. "The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we're very happy. Thanks for asking. ... That's the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."
The split marks the second for Swift this year. On June 2, Scottish performer and DJ Calvin Harris confirmed that he and the "Shake It Off" hit maker had gone their separate ways after 15 months together.
