"The Tonight Show's" popular sketch "Ew!" often features host Jimmy Fallon and his male guests portraying unattractive teenage girls, but on Wednesday, Fallon got the very attractive Taylor Swift to don a dorky getup for the latest edition of the bit.
Her Natalie — who had glasses, braces and pigtails with a bonus ponytail on top of her head, and wore a pink sweater tank featuring a raccoon — seemed timid next to Fallon's loud and obnoxious Sara. And when Natalie had an adorable little sneeze during show and tell, Sara was not pleased.
"Ew! Gross! You're sneezing snot all over the place!" Fallon's Sara screamed.
The singer later revealed that she'd put a lot of thought into developing Natalie for "Ew!"
"I got really deep with the character," Swift told Fallon, and revealed that some of the things Natalie liked (building popsicle-stick castles, for example), were straight from her childhood.
She even spent some time getting into character before her "Tonight" appearance.
As for those oh-so-attractive fake braces she wore for "Ew," the singer said she was highly impressed by their quality. "I show up today and (Fallon) gives me this sort of Invisalign with braces attached," Swift explained. "You guys are so high-tech."
And she should know. Swift wore fake braces for a "Saturday Night Live" sketch four years ago, but they were nowhere near as fancy. "They gave me this kind of, like, braces-retainer, but the teeth came on it. Like, the teeth were attached," she explained.
Fallon, who's a former cast member on "SNL," couldn't help but make a joke at the sketch-comedy show's expense. While crowing about "Tonight's" props, he called the braces they used for "Ew!" "perfect, nice, beautiful braces ... not like that 'SNL' crap!"
But the chat with the singer wasn't all about Natalie. Swift confirmed to Fallon that she will indeed be performing at Sunday's Video Music Awards show. "I'm getting a call from MTV later," she joked about spilling the news.
"The Tonight Show" airs weeknights at 11:35 on NBC. The VMAs air Sunday at 8 p.m. on MTV.
