After one of the most successful seasons ever of American Idol, many are giving credit to judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler for the show's renewed popularity and excitement. But after Tuesday night's final performance show, Steven admitted he never wanted to do Idol and even said the show sucks!

So, what's the deal with Steven's less-than-stellar attitude, and who does he think deserves to be crowned the next American Idol?

Throughout season 10, we've seen fans come out in droves just for a glimpse of Steven sitting behind the judges table. The audience is filled with signs begging for his attention, and his effortless rocker style is nothing less than showstopping. So imagine our surprise when Steven opened up at the postfinale performance show press conference that he almost wasn't willing to give the show a chance!

"I never wanted to do American Idol," he told us. "I turned around and said, 'The show sucks. How can kids be [an] American idol? They haven't played clubs, they haven't paid their dues, that haven't done what we did.' I was wrong. They are out there, we just have to wade through a bunch of them."

It's no secret he's favored finalist Lauren Aliana since her audition and backed up his choice for her to win it all.

"When I first heard Lauren, seven months ago, it was the second city," he said. "You have to go through so many kids and she sang. She doesn't try to hit the notes, the words just go to that place. Everybody else is trying to hit the notes, and she's never had that problem with pitch. Maybe bad songs, but she's been perfect and right and great. I circled her months ago and said 'American idol.' Her and and about six or seven others, but I heard her first. I mean how does a 15-year-old sing like that? How does that happen? That's magic, that's the gift, and that's what we're looking for."

With only hours left until a winner is announced, it's anyone's guess whose Idol dream will come true. Who do you think it will be? Do you think Steven's favoritism was unfair to Scotty McCreery? Will you watch Idol next season? Let us know in the comments!
