Nearly three and half years after they swapped “I dos” at their corporate-sponsored wedding, Star Jones and Al Reynolds are calling it quits. The National Enquirer reports the legal diva sent Al his walking papers a month ago.
A rep for Jones says the report is false, but the Enquirer goes on to say, “They hadn’t been seeing eye to eye for months and had already spent a great deal of time apart,” a friend of the couple told the Enquirer. “Finally, Star decided it was over. She told Al at the end of January that he had 30 days to get his act together or ‘get out.’”
The pair made one last public appearance at the Feb. 1 Baby Phat fashion show in New York City, but everything fell apart days later. That prompted Star to show Al the door ahead of schedule, the source said. “Al moved some of his things out of their Upper East Side apartment and returned to Miami, where he’d already been spending a lot of time recently.”
The Enquirer spoke to another insider who confirmed the breakup and revealed Star’s intention to make it permanent. “Star is planning to divorce Al.” As for reason behind the split, the source added, “I think Star felt Al had spent their marriage riding her success while she did all the heavy lifting. She resented it. Deep down, Star is a very old-fashioned woman who believes a man should support her emotionally, physically and financially. She now believes Al failed her.”
Paula and Simon like an ‘old married couple’
While she gets along with him better when he’s not behind the judging table, Paula Abdul still has loads of complaints when it comes to Simon Cowell. In an interview with Celebs on Sunday, she dished about their odd relationship.
“We’re an old married couple,” Paula said. “God, that is just a wretched thought, but it’s true.”
And just like a long-suffering wife, Paula had a laundry list of grievances to share about her grumpy “American Idol” counterpart.
What irritates her the most? “It’s always something that stems from his arrogance. It’s the way he tells the kids, ‘Oh you shouldn’t let nerves get the better of you.’ He’s never been on stage; he’s never ever done what they do. And then he starts giving them advice on choreography, which is when I get really mad.”
Despite the annoyances, Paula still makes time for Simon in her off hours. “We sometimes do weekends and, of course, he’ll call the paparazzi to make sure there’ll be a whole bunch of photographers there when we do.” According to Paula, Simon pretends to be bothered by all the lens attention, “but he wants to make sure everyone knows how popular he is.”
Apparently Simon thinks he’s pretty popular with his co-judge, too. “He’ll always say, ‘Paula, you know you want me,’ and I’ll play along with it.” But she assured Celebs on Sunday, “Somehow I’ve managed to resist the temptation so far. It’s been hard, but I’ve managed to not go there …”
Dish on the fly The Fabio versus George Clooney fight may finally be over, as gorgeous George admits potential defeat. It all started last November when the two men shared some choice words at a Beverly Hills restaurant. Later Fabio told Details magazine, “(George) laid a hand on me, so it would have been self-defense if I had beaten him down.” The 6-foot-3, 230-pound romance cover boy insisted, “I could have f---ed him up. Oh my god, I could have beaten the s--t out of him.” In the upcoming issue of Esquire, George responds. “Yeah, that's probably true.” He said, “(Fabio’s) a big guy. There is a moment when you are actually in the argument and you're thinking, 'If I do get beaten down by Fabio, that will be far worse than the pain. I wouldn't shake that.’” … Lauren Conrad is no longer looking for love, and if the latest romance rumors are true, “Brothers & Sister’s” hottie Dave Annable is the reason. “They first got together at the Super Bowl and have been dating ever since,” an insider revealed to In Touch. The source claimed Dave’s even taken to spending the night at LC’s place, “but on the couch, of course.”
