Found: Alec Baldwin?

The rumor mill has been swirling that the 30 Rock star--who has made no secret of both his increasing penchant for politics and desire to leave his hit sitcom--is the heir apparent to Keith Olbermann's nightly throne, with cable news bigwigs supposedly tripping over themselves to woo the Emmy winner into their fold.

He can certainly rant with the best of them, that much is true. And we're guessing a not insignificant part of him would relish going head-to-head with timeslot rival Bill O'Reilly. But is Baldwin really a legit contender to replace Olbermann? This rumor is...

So false!

Put it this way: Baldwin has a better chance of replacing Regis Philbin than he does MNBC's former pundit.

Too bad. Now that would have been must-see TV.
