It was the after-party decades in the making.
After "Saturday Night Live's" 40th anniversary special ended Sunday, the star-studded crowd headed to New York City's legendary Plaza Hotel to sing the night away. Fortunately for those who didn't score an invite, the highlights are all over social media.

"SNL" alum and "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon MC'd the party that reportedly lasted until the early hours of the morning. Joining Fallon on stage were numerous celebrities, including Taylor Swift and Dan Akroyd singing "I Saw Her Standing There" with Paul McCartney.
Fallon also sang back-up as Swift and McCartney busted out Swift's latest chart topper, "Shake It Off."
And if that's enough enough musical magic, Prince also hopped behind the mic — while Martin Short danced not so far away.
Even Cuba Gooding Jr. couldn't believe how much fun he was having.
We already can't wait to see what magic's in store for the 50th anniversary.
