Second chance for Jen Aniston and Mayer?

Star magazine reports that John Mayer has been sending Jennifer Aniston romantic e-mails, but Aniston is staying mum about the possible rekindling of their relationship.

They went their separate ways two months ago after he (or maybe she) called off the romance, but according to recent reports, something’s brewing again between former flames John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston.

Spies first caught a glimpse of the reunited pair Saturday as they dined at Manhattan’s Il Mulino, and just three days later they were spotted again sharing a romantic meal at the Tower Bar in West Hollywood. As for what led up to the friendly feasts, Star magazine puts it all down to a series of e-mails from a persistently pleading Mayer.

“At first Jennifer was afraid to respond to John’s messages because she was afraid he’d break her heart again,” an insider revealed. “The e-mails were especially poetic — like love songs. He said he’d never stop loving her, and he’s been very, very persuasive.”

Even if the dinner dates mean the troubadour’s managed to win Aniston back, she’s not ready to shout it from the rooftops yet. Despite the public outings, a friend of the actress told People magazine she’s keeping quiet.

“If they are back together, Jen is not bragging about it to her friends,” the pal said.

Lauren and Heidi bury the hatchet Talk about irony. Just a day after reality TV fixture and fashion designer Lauren Conrad declared she was “ready to kind of walk away” from “The Hills,” in part due to her real life friendships being torn apart in the press, the press helped LC bury the hatchet on her long-running feud with ex-BFF Heidi Montag.

Apparently Montag and her main man, Spencer Pratt, were just passing by NYC’s STK restaurant at the same time Conrad was there for post-fashion show bash Tuesday night. That’s when “Extra,” on hand to cover the party, facilitated a frenemy reunion.

According to “Extra,” Montag told one of the show’s producers that she’d like to speak with Conrad, and moments later the teary-eyed twosome shared a hug.

Conrad confirmed the warm reception when she spoke to Usmagazine.com Wednesday.

“Yes, it’s true,” she said. “(Heidi) came in to the after party to congratulate me on the show. It was nice of her. I appreciated it.”

Dish on the fly The celebrity support just keeps pouring in for pop star Britney Spears now that she’s put her troubled times behind her. The National Enquirer reports that actress Meg Ryan, who recently learned how much Spears loves her films, called her famous fan to pass on some well wishes. “Britney was over the moon,” a source told the magazine. “That someone like Meg would take the time to call meant the world to her. She feels people are treating her seriously again.” … “Girl Next Door” Holly Madison claims she had no choice but to leave Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, as staying with the 82-year-old would have meant living a lie. “The only way I could be happy staying there was if we’d turned our relationship into something more traditional,” the 28-year-old confessed to In Touch. “I wanted to have kids. When that wasn’t possible, I realized that I had to be honest with Hef and break it off.”
