There could be more controversial caribou hunts and reality-TV-crossover camping trips in TLC’s future. With “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” soon coming to the end of its planned eight-part run, PopEater.com reports the network hopes to convince Palin to star in a second season of the televised travelogue.

According to a TLC insider, Palin’s good ratings and headline-grabbing episodes have the network “doing everything it possibly can” to make a second season happen, but “it looks like it will all come down to money.”

As in, a whole lot more money than the $250,000 per episode Palin is currently said to make.

"Sarah knows to strike when the iron is hot and started talking about season two right after the show debuted to huge numbers," a Palin pal told PopEater.com. "She knows that celebrities get millions of dollars for each episode of their shows and thinks she's worth it too. Jennifer Aniston took home millions from 'Friends' and in Sarah's eyes, she's no different."

Of course, “Friends” was one of the highest-rated shows on TV when Aniston and Co. earned their big paychecks, with the show averaging well over 20 million viewers per episode. By comparison, Palin’s series debuted to its peak audience of just under five million.
