Samantha Harris, former co-host of "Dancing With the Stars," tweeted Tuesday that she was recovering after undergoing a double mastectomy to treat her breast cancer. Harris also shared a WhoSay photo of herself with pre-surgery guidelines drawn on her chest, joking that they were "my art."
Harris told People magazine she found a lump in her right breast last fall despite a recent clean mammogram.
She and husband Michael Hess have two daughters, Josselyn, 6, and Hillary, 3. Harris told People that the couple is making a video diary of her cancer journey and may show it to their daughters some day.
Harris worked alongside Tom Bergeron on "Dancing With the Stars' from 2006 to 2010, when she was replaced by Brooke Burke. She has also acted in movies, and played the lead role in the Broadway musical "Chicago."
On May 10, she participated in the Entertainment Industry Foundation Revlon Run/Walk for Women, an event that raises money for research and support for women facing cancer.
