Two months after its midnight release, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” has sold 11 million copies in the United States, publisher Scholastic, Inc., said Wednesday.
“Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth of seven planned books in J.K. Rowling’s fantasy series, debuted in mid-July with an astonishing 6.9 million sales in its first 24 hours and has remained high on best seller lists. On Wednesday, it was No. 1 on Amazon.com.
The previous book in the seven-book series, “Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix,” was published in 2003, selling 5 million books in its first 24 hours and more than 11 million in hardcover overall. Worldwide sales for the six Potter books top 250 million.
