We're really hoping that when 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte said "will you marry me" to Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid on Sunday night that she had just one word for him: "Jeah!"
Well, even if she didn't use his personal catchphrase we do know that she said "yes," at least — because on Sunday night the 25-year-old Reid and the 32-year-old Lochte posted beautiful, happy photos of her wearing a gorgeous diamond ring after they got engaged.
It's been something of a whirlwind romance; the pair met in January at an L.A. nightclub. Earlier this month, he told USA Today Sports, "My family says, 'Don’t you think it's a little too soon?' I’m like, 'Can you put a time on love? Can you?' When I realized this was 'the one' was when she stuck behind me through this."

"This" undoubtedly refers to some of the challenges Lochte faced earlier in 2016; for one thing, he was part of an incident in which he and other teammates said they were robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro, a story that ultimately turned out to be both more and less nuanced than he initially reported. In August he was charged with providing a false claim of robbery and could be jailed in Brazil for up to 18 months.
But he defended the account on TODAY that same month, saying "we wouldn't make this story up."
Then in September as he competed on "Dancing With the Stars" protesters interrupted the live show by rushing the stage, while members of the audience booed him over the Rio incident.

Having someone stand by his side has clearly been important for Lochte, and now the pair are set to be married. As he told USA Today Sports, "From the very first time I met her, everything has, like, clicked. That's why I know I can propose to her because everything that's happened and she's been keeping me so positive. She doesn't care about my fame. She doesn't care about anything. All she cares about is me being happy."
And they do look pretty happy together. Congrats!
