Rick Springfield is putting down his guitar for a bit and picking up a scalpel.

He’s returning to “General Hospital” as his old character, Doctor Noah Drake. He’ll be in four episodes, starting December second.

Rick Springfield was his sizzling hottest in the early 1980’s when he starred on “General Hospital” and had the mega-hit “Jessie’s Girl.”

Springfield knows what it’s like to be inside a real hospital. He writes on his Web site that he’s had to take a break twice this year from an intense music tour for a couple of hernia operations.

His tour starts up again in December.
