Report: Lucci declines 'All My Children' offer

Rick Rowell / ABC / Today
Emmy Award-winning actress Susan Lucci has been playing the legendary role of Erica Kane since the show debuted in 1970.

Sorry, soap fans. More bad news for you today.

Deadline.com is hearing that soap star Susan Lucci has turned down an offer to remain on "All My Children" after the drama moves online. According to the website, Prospect Park, the company that has licensed "AMC" and "One Life to Live" for web broadcast, offered the same salary to the actress.

So what was the deal breaker? Deadline.com reports that the Emmy-winning actress wanted not only shorter work hours, but also a guarantee for a primetime show. Lucci has starred as Erica Kane on "AMC" since the show's inception in 1970.

ABC canceled "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" in April, saying that "the changing viewing patterns of the audience" led them to the decision. The final episode of "AMC" is slated for Sept. 23, while "OLTL" has until January.
