Here's a new entry for your diary: On Oct. 2, "Bridget Jones's Baby" is set to start filming in the UK, TODAY has confirmed.
Renée Zellweger is back on board to reprise the role of the quirky, irrepressible romantic, continuing a story that began in 2001 with "Bridget Jones's Diary" and continued in 2004 with "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason."
The story will take place between the events of "Reason" and the third book in the series by Helen Fielding, published in 2013, "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy."
Joining Zellweger on screen is her regular leading man, Colin Firth (Mark Darcy) and McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey. Dempsey seems a natural as a potential romantic interest, but a lot will depend on Bridget's marital state. It has been 11 years since the last film was released, but when we last saw her on screen she was engaged, not married, to Mark.
Jones will be unexpectedly pregnant in the film, and who the father is remains a secret. Firth's character? Dempsey's? Hey, if it leads to a great fight scene between the two, we're totally on board.
Heck, no matter what, we're on board.
