'Real Housewives' react to news of Armstrong's suicide

The apparent Monday night suicide of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' " Russell Armstrong has devastated the Bravo community.

The estranged husband of Taylor Armstrong was just 47 years old, and leaves behind daughter Kennedy; the LAPD confirmed to Us that Armstrong hanged himself in his L.A. area home, and was discovered Monday evening.

A spokesperson for Bravo said in a statement: "All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by this tragic news.  Our sympathy and thoughts are with the Armstrong family at this difficult time."

Armstrong's close friend and castmate Adrienne Maloof tweeted: "My heart goes out to @TaylorArmstrong and Kennedy during this devastating time. You will be in my thoughts and in prayers."

"I am so very sad about today's news," Bravo's Andy Cohen tweeted. "My prayers and thoughts are with Taylor Armstrong and her family.

"That's unbelievably awful," 'Real Housewives of New York's' Alex and Simon McCord told Us Weekly. "[We] hadn't heard yet. Our hearts go out to the family."

"It's terrible!" McCord's castmate Ramona Singer told Us. "I've met Taylor, she's very sweet."

She added of the the late Armstrong: "It's a shame, it's a shame for his child and it's a shame for his wife. It's very sad when anyone takes their life. Someone has to be in so much pain to take their life, I can't even imagine what kind of pain."

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" alum Danielle Staub tweeted: "Love and prayers to you and your family — I pray your privacy will be respected in this great time of need!"

Added "Real Housewives of Atlanta's" NeNe Leakes: "My dear friend! My heart goes out 2 u! I'am here 4 u."
