"Lost" pulled out all the stops for its season finale Wednesday night. Charlie is apparently gone, Locke is apparently back, and the final scene certainly makes it look as if the plane-crash victims finally get off the island. But did they? If they're in the future, why is Jack talking about his father as if he were alive, when dear old dad came to the island in a coffin?
There are plenty of points to puzzle over, and plenty of time to do it in, since "Lost" doesn't return until January 2008. Here are some of your thoughts.
MYSTERY OF JACK’S DAD
“If this is the future of Jack, I am disappointed. Even though I like happy endings, reality rarely gives us those. however, everything Jack does is for the good of everyone so I think his future after the island should have happiness in it. Why was there reference to Jack’s dad being alive in the future?” --Anonymous
NOT ENOUGH TIME
“The list of unanswered questions grows with every chapter. I wonder if 48 more episodes will be enough to answer them all.” --Guillermo
BRING CHARLIE BACK
“Oh, My GAWD! The season finale was terrific. i knew that was a flash forward as Jack was talking on a Razor cell phone and his maps were of oceans and wanted to go back. But Why? Why kill off Charlie? His presence offered so much hope. Bring him back. In some quirky way just like everything else that happens there. Keep up with the Flash forwards. I want to know what happens to them when they do leave.” --Lisa
‘Wow! That was interesting! I was blown away by seeing Jack & Kate’s future; thinking until the end that this was Jack’s past. I think that Ben is probably partially right about not leaving; but pretty hard to trust him. I can’t wait until next season!” --Kathy
“The finale episode I believe was dubbed “Answers.” What answers? All I got out of it was a lot more questions. Am I alone in this opinion? Getting a bit bored with the whole thing!” --Ray
“It really wasn’t that suspenseful and didn’t give us any big answers the producers promised were going to be revealed. Jack cries too much and next season I’d like to see the survivors challenge his authority a little bit.” --Anonymous
WAS BEN DEAD?
“Best episode yet. I figure the “new” group trying to find the island all along will come to the island to torment both groups now on the island for the next season. Viewing Jack’s future was a surprise to see (didn’t know it was his “future”). Maybe the following years episodes will be about Jacks and Kate’s “new lives” at home? Was Ben in the casket? Certainly intend to watch next season. This was a good ending for the year.” --April
ROOTING FOR ROMANCE
“Not sure I’ll watch next season now seeing Jack and Kate’s future was a letdown. At least before we could always hold out hope they would end up together.” --Kelly
EVERYTHING IN FINALE
“I’ve been waiting ALL season for something exciting to happen on “Lost,” and of course they saved EVERYTHING for the season finale. I just hope next season is better than this one.” --C.S.
ISN’T DAD DEAD?
“The only problem with seeing Jack in the “future” was that when he was confronted by the other doctor when he was all doped up and/or drunk at the hospital, he said “why don’t you get my father down here and let’s see who is more drunk and then you can fire me”. If this is the future? We all know that his father was in a coffin on the plane. What’s that all about.” --Lauren
WHO IS ‘HE’?
“What did Kate mean when she said, “He’s waiting for me”, when she was talking to Jack at the end of the show? This “He” has to be important and relevant to the plot. The person whose funeral Jack briefly attended is a mystery as well. As for the phone call at the end of the show...I think Ben was right when he said it was a mistake to make the call. Something deeper and more dangerous is about to take place on mystery island from that call...something horrible I believe.” --Catherine
“I would like to see the show move back to the 9PM hour instead of 10. That’s what I would really like for next season.” --Anonymous
“I sure wish Charlie did not have to die, please save him. He can hold his breath for along time and once the pressure stabilized between the ocean and the pod he could swim out the window.” --Elizabeth
“This was a “holy crap” moment. I had to watch the last 5 mins three times before I could believe that it was the future. I’m still looking for more of the mystery revelations of Jacob and the mysterious qualities of the island. Also who funds all of the “others” antics? What are the new “bad guys” are going to do? From the producers special I remember them saying something about tying the past/present/and futures together. I’m intrigued on how they’re going to make it work without getting too corny. I admit that the beginning of season three seemed to drag on, but it was worth the wait for the past few weeks.” --N
“Nothing, the writers for this show have LOST me and a lot of other viewers.Sorry, loved it in the beginning but have LOST interest.” --Sharon
