Our readers continue to contribute some funny, smart and incisive comments to our Today Entertainment Facebook page. Every Friday, we'll highlight those that really stood out. If you see a great comment throughout the week, click the “Like” button underneath it to draw it to our attention.
1. On "Alexander Skarsgard likes nudity, lots of sex," in which the actor says Americans are prudes about sex in entertainment but OK with violence
Michelle Williams Vogtman: "I have to agree. Our Puritan roots still seem to be rearing their ugly heads on this one. We are a bunch of prudes. Nothing to be ashamed of. Problem is that we are violent prudes. Now that should make you nervous!"
And the runners-up...
2. On "Kanye West mobbed at Occupy Wall Street protests"
Stacy Collins: "No one should show up to a protest about greed wearing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry."
3. On "What's your biggest pet peeve about movies?"
Ray Thompson: "People that use their cell phones to text. The light from their screen is annoying. If you paid to go to a movie, why do you spend your time texting? What in your llife is so important that you cannot go without communications for two hours? Why do you think you're that important anyway? Losers!"
4. On "Happy 70th birthday, Paul Simon"
Joseph Holton: "Every time I hear (Simon's "America") I want to hitchhike from Saginaw or see the moon rise over an open field. ... He has definitely written some of my favorite songs!"
5. On "Johnny Depp will ride again in 'Lone Ranger'"
Gina Eliott Proulx: "I would watch Johnny Depp stand in line at an ATM machine ... OF COURSE I'd go see this."
6. On "Steel Magnolias to get remake with all-black cast"
Corinne Meli: "I've had juvenile diabetes for over 20 years and I HATE this movie. This movie makes women with juvenile diabetes scared to have a baby — it gave me a complex that was totally unnecessary. Growing up, I was always terrified at the thought of having a baby thanks to this movie. With proper control of diabetes, women with diabetes can have healthy babies and live healthy lives. This movie makes it look like the opposite is true. DON'T DO THIS TO ANOTHER GENERATION OF DIABETIC WOMEN!"
