Parker Posey never was a comic-book geek. Yet she found herself a bit breathless on the set of “Superman Returns,” preparing for the scene where the Man of Steel rescues her from a car crash.

Posey plays Kitty Kowalski, the covetous moll of supervillain Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), who dispatches his lady friend in an out-of-control sports car to lure in do-gooder Superman (Brandon Routh) to save her.

Kitty’s so awe-struck over Superman’s heroic actions that she hitches a ride with the flying man to a hospital because she doesn’t want to part company with him.

“Being taken to the hospital, I really did have that feeling like, ‘I can’t believe I’m about to fly with Superman,”’ Posey, 37, told The Associated Press.

Routh and Posey were in harnesses for their flying scene, zipping through the air at the tops of the trees.

Posey said that Routh’s midair sequences reminded her of the freedom she once felt flying on her own.

“I went hang-gliding once in Australia. It just takes a little bit of movement on the wing to just soar. It’s so powerful to see that,” Posey said. “I was really moved by seeing him fly. There was such grace. It was so Zen and just kind of peaceful, how he centers himself in the sky.”
