Peter Jackson has officially announced that neither he nor his long-awaited films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be making an appearance at 2011 Comic-Con (kicking off tonight, as we type).

But knowing that fanboys, fangirls and Tolkienites are his bread and butter when it comes to packing 'em into theaters, Jackson hasn't left his posse entirely without.

"Good news and bad news today," the New Zealander wrote on Facebook.

"Bad news is that we won't be doing any Hobbit presentation at Comic Con in San Diego this year. New Line and Warner Bros. were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There's so much more of the films still to shoot..."

Yeah, but how is he ever going to get finished it he spends all his time shooting charming little behind-the-scenes video blogs, like the one above?
