The new Pee-wee pic will reportedly take him on the road in "a gigantic adventure."

The project was reportedly set in motion after the director/producer saw the recent "Pee-wee Herman Show" revival at the Nokia Theater in LA, which ran from January to February 2010.

"There is no one like Judd in our business -- he loves comedy with emotion and heart, and he sees what we do as art," Paul told the mag. "I can't believe I'm getting this opportunity to be working with him."

Paul and Paul Rust, whose credits include "Inglourious Basterds" and "I Love You, Beth Cooper," will reportedly pen the screenplay.
