Paula Abdul may make an appearance after all on “So You Think You Can Dance?,” her former boss, ex-“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe, Tweeted on Friday.
“I saw Paula @ the ‘Power of Women’ event yesterday. I asked her to come on SYTYCD again and she said she would. I hope she means it?” Lythgoe, a producer and judge on the show, Tweeted.
Both were in attendance at Variety’s 1st Annual Power of Women event in Los Angeles on September 24, also attended by such stars as Sigourney Weaver, Anne Hathaway, Christina Applegate and many others.
Reps for Abdul and “So You Think You Can Dance” did not immediately return calls from Access Hollywood.
An award-winning choreographer and dancer as well as a successful pop singer, Abdul has been strongly rumored to be joining a dance show. In August, Lythgoe told reporters at a FOX Television Critics Association panel in Pasadena, California, that he had indeed reached out to Abdul — but didn’t want to bring her on as a judge.
“At this moment in time we’re talking about opportunities, not just as a judge on this program, but opportunities for Paula. So that’s what I’d like to continue with,” Lythgoe said at the time.
However, “So You Think You Can Dance” added a third judge, Adam Shankman, to the table alongside himself and Mary Murphy, earlier this month, leaving the show’s options open.
Abdul’s most recent gig was hosting and performing at the “VH1: Divas” show, which aired Sept. 17.
