Rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon made a televised appeal to the British public on Tuesday for help in recovering jewelry worth nearly $2 million snatched from their English country estate.

An emotional and profane Sharon admitted that most people would likely respond with “who really gives a damn” to the plight of such a fabulously wealthy couple asking for help, but said the theft “pissed her off big time.”

“Everything we got we have worked our asses off for,” she told reporters at a police news conference.

At the conference, a setting which usually involves worried parents pleading for information on missing children, the couple sat dressed in black beside a detective.

As photos were shown to reporters, the celebrity couple provided details of about seven items of jewelry stolen by a burglar from their mansion in Buckinghamshire, north of London, just before dawn on Monday.

They did not give an estimate of the items’ worth — which included Sharon’s diamond wedding bands, a 24-carat sapphire ring and a number of jewel-encrusted watches — but newspapers guessed about $1.8 million.

The couple offered a 100,000 pound reward for the return of the gems.

Osbourne, 55, confirmed he had grabbed the intruder, who struggled free and jumped out of a first-floor window — but said that had probably been a bad idea.

“In hindsight, it could have been a lot worse. I could have been like George Harrison. I just thank God that no one got injured,” he said.

The late Beatle was nearly stabbed to death by an intruder at his mansion in rural England in 1999.

Osbourne said the incident had caused him to question rising crime in Britain. “I’m just very disappointed,” he said.

Osbourne first became famous in the 1970s as lead singer of heavy metal band Black Sabbath.

He has since gained renewed fame as star of MTV’s popular reality show “The Osbournes,” which offers a glimpse into his life at home with Sharon and two of their three children.

Sharon now stars in Britain’s latest televised talent contest “The X Factor.”

Osbourne made headlines in Britain a year ago after he severely injured himself in a quad bike crash, which forced him to spend several days on a ventilator.
