'Office' outrage: Wilson 'ashamed' of Carell Emmy snub

Jim Parsons of the “Big Bang Theory” walked away with the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series Sunday night, but before the big bash, many thought the honor would go to “The Office’s” ex-leading man Steve Carell — including Carell’s former co-star Rainn Wilson.

“The world of TV should be ashamed of itself that Steve Carell never won an Emmy for Michael Gary Scott.” Wilson tweeted after Sunday night’s telecast.

But while Wilson and others were so sure Carell was the man for the Emmy, the star himself wasn’t convinced.

Just before the awards got underway, Carell stopped on the red carpet to talk about his chances.

“It would be a culmination of all my hopes and dreams,” the actor told MTV News about a possible win. “It would be great,” but he added, “I’m putting my expectations on the fairly low side and just trying to enjoy it.”

Good plan, as it turned out.

What do you think? Is Wilson right? Was Carell robbed, or did Parsons deserve the win? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
