See you later, Suri Cruise: Barack Obama is the new golden child in the celebrity weekly world.

Just hours after the elections, two of the most successful brands — People and Us Weekly — stocked newsstands with issues that featured the president-elect on the cover, while the competition went with more ordinary celebrity fare. According to early sales figures, People and Us made the right call.

Us Weekly, according to those estimates, could sell more than a million copies and People is on pace to sell nearly two million issues, if not more. (A rep for Us won’t comment on exact numbers, but confirms the issue sold “better than average, extremely well,” and a rep for People says that “early indicators indicate it will be one of the year’s top sellers.”)

People, which usually goes to press on Tuesdays, moved its deadline to Wednesday to accommodate the election, and Us went to press on Monday as usual.

While the move by Us might seem like a gamble, the story inside did indicate that the election wasn’t over yet. A rep for Us said that the decision was made because “our readers are very engaged in the election process, and we decided it was worth it (no matter who won) to do (the Obama cover) as a great human interest story.”

OK!, which ran a cover with Suri Cruise, sold fewer than 300,000 copies, according to some tracking, and Life & Style and In Touch remained steady.

Dr. Burke speaks outAfter Brooke Smith’s unceremonious exit from “Grey’s Anatomy”, Isaiah Washington spoke to TV Guide about the incident, which he characterized as “disgusting.”

Smith played Dr. Erica Hahn, and her character was engaged in a lesbian relationship with Dr. Callie Torres. Some have speculated that the network was afraid to continue the relationship, and so ended Smith's role. Washington, who played Dr. Preston Burke on the show, was famously dropped from the same show after using an anti-gay slur to refer to co-star T.R. Knight.

Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. on the "Let's Be Cops," red carpet, Selena Gomez is immortalized in wax and more.

“Now that I see what they’re doing to a show that I love and I care about, I think it’s disgusting,” Washington said. “The fact that (show creator) Shonda (Rhimes) has been put in this position is extremely unfair. It’s unfortunate because it was probably, at the time, the most progressive show on television. Now I see it (being) systematically torn apart.”

That said, Washington says he’d “absolutely” return to “Grey’s” given the chance.

Well, is there a chance? A rep for ABC says confirms that there are no talks in place, or planned. Another source close to the production says, “not sure why (Washington would) want to weigh in on this, since he’s not even involved with the show anymore. He’s clearly got an opinion about things, though.”

A George Clinton clone?
Funk fans rejoice: George Clinton says he’s going to store his DNA for cloning, and he talks to Details about it, in what might be the most awesome/ridiculous argument in support of socking away his DNA.

“Cloning — we got generations of that sh--,” Clinton told the magazine. “The pyramids? They was for cloning. That’s why embalming lasts so long. Get the DNA and pull ‘em back. So somebody been cloned already, but not me. Not yet.”
