No sign of marital woes for J.Lo at inauguration

Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony were in Washington, D.C. for the inaugural festivities, and by all accounts, were happy and non-demanding.

Don't believe those rumors of trouble in Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s marriage.

The couple and their twins were in Washington for the inauguration, where they sang a duet at the Western Ball, and by all accounts, the family acted in a downright normal fashion.

They stayed at a hotel together, and according to a source, “they had no real unusual demands. They were totally polite and seemed happy together.”

The only thing that seemed surprising to outsiders was how hands-on Benny Medina, Lopez’s manager, was with 11-month-old twins Max and Emme. “He was always holding one of them," the source says. "It was sweet, but not what you’d expect.”

Meanwhile, Usher landed on other end of the high-maintenance scale for inauguration week.

“He told me he rented an entire floor of his hotel,” said one person who worked with him while in D.C. “It wasn’t even clear that he or his staff or whatever was using all the rooms. It seemed to be a strange thing to brag about, considering the weekend wasn’t supposed to be about being a celebrity.”

Hilton: Smokin' at SundanceHer inadvertent stardom in a John McCain ad and subsequent rebuttal spoof may have been Paris Hilton’s biggest moments of 2008, but the heiress spent inauguration weekend getting into trouble at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

An insider told Us Weekly that Hilton was slapped with a $1,000 fine on Jan. 16 when hotel employees detected pungent smoke wafting from her room.

A source close to Hilton made the unlikely claim, “The hotel is just using her to get press.”

After watching Hilton’s friendship with Nicole Richie run its natural, unedited course on “The Simple Life,” it’s disheartening to learn that aspiring rocker Brittany Flickinger was recently crowned the heiress’s BFF on MTV in name only.

“Paris told friends she only hung with Brittany because she was obligated to,” a source told Us. Come next season, “she said they’re going to have a fight that ends the ‘friendship.’”

Mariah Carey chooses Sundance over D.C. Other stars, too, skipped the inaugural festivities in Washington in favor of Sundance.

Mariah Carey was there to promote her new movie “Push” — her first big-screen acting role since her 2001 embarrassment, “Glitter.” Her husband Nick Cannon was with her, promoting “The Killing Room,” in which he has a role.

Whether or not the couple's acting careers take off, becoming parents is on the agenda.

“Absolutely, that’s our plan, we want kids!” Cannon told In Touch. For now, he hopes this workout regimen will help him hang onto his new wife. “I have the most gorgeous wife in the world, and I want to keep her so I have to hit the gym,” he said.

Weekend box office: third time’s the charm?
OK, I’m off to a shaky start at predicting box-office winners in ’09. I’m hoping that the third time is a charm here.

The two big releases are “Inkheart,” a PG-rated fantasy starring Brendan Fraser and Paul Bettany, and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” a horror flick with Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen.

I’m going to bank on (a) the buzz of last week’s “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” to attract some of the potential “Inkheart” audience and (b) the fact that horror films typically don’t track well, and put “Underworld” in first place.
