A funny thing happened on the way to the Shape magazine party at Trousdale in Los Angeles Tuesday night ... the party's honoree, LeAnn Rhimes, didn't make it. Rimes has been at the center of controversy surrounding the magazine's October cover, featuring her. Several readers wrote to Shape objecting to having a "husband stealer" on the cover, and editor Valerie Latona sent a letter of apology to those readers, saying it was a "terrible mistake." Shortly thereafter, Latona changed her tune, saying she supported Rimes and her accompanying interview. As for Rimes' no-show at the party to celebrate her cover, the singer's rep said that she caught the flu, and "under doctor's orders was advised not to travel or go out." Rimes does have other things to celebrate: reportedly, she and her boyfriend Eddie Cibrian became engaged.
