The ballroom bash lost a big personality Monday night as NeNe Leakes landed in last place and said so long to "Dancing With the Stars."
The ouster came after "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" celeb and her pro dance partner, Tony Dovolani, delivered one last solo dance and one team dance for Latin Night. And while her fate was clearly a surprise to her after the evening's numbers, Leakes wasn't totally shocked.
“We know the rules coming in,” she philosophized to reporters after the show. “There can only be one person standing at the end, but you want to be the one standing!”
Leakes earned high praise from the judges for her Argentine tango, which she performed with a shirtless Dovolani (who stripped his top after his shirt status was put to a viewer vote), as well as her performance in the group routine. In a pre-taped video segment that aired during the show, Leakes’ fellow Team Vida members attempted to lift her above their heads, only she ended up taking a tumble — while James Maslow took a foot to the head.
“It was OK,” she told TODAY. “I kicked James a little bit, but he took it like a man. He was sweet.”
Speaking of Maslow, Leakes predicts that the “Big Time Rush” band member will be the one who waltzes away with the mirror-ball trophy when it’s handed out on May 20.
“My money’s on James,” she told us.
So now it's back to "The Real Housewives" for Leakes — or is it?
“There’s a lot of hesitation,” she said about returning to the reality TV series. “When I began the journey, it was more positive. People tuned in to see fashion and fabulousness — never pulling hair, belittling each other or being super-negative. (It's) become something I can’t believe. It’s changed."
Would she return if asked?
"I have no idea; it’s always possible,” she said. “It seems like every year I 'leave' the show!”
"Dancing With the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC. "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
