Even as Oprah Winfrey met with the alleged abuse victim at her Leadership Academy Girls School in South Africa, problems continue to mount. A tell-all book on her company, Harpo and serious questions regarding a doctor she featured on her show are two big issues the Queen of Talk faces upon her U.S. return.
The New York Post’s Page Six reports that Keifer Bonvillain, the guy who allegedly attempted to extort Oprah for $1.5 million last year, is trying to find a publisher for his expose on Oprah’s empire.
A pitch to publishers posted on this would-be author’s Web site reads in part:
“An office manager at Harpo broke his silence and his confidentiality agreement when he spoke freely about Oprah Winfrey's private life and business affairs. Keifer Bonvillain underestimated one of the world's most powerful women when he, armed with clandestinely recorded tapes, decided to write a ‘tell-all’ book unmasking the famed celebrity. Within days of Harpo learning about the book, two men were attempting to break into Keifer's home — presumably to get the tapes. Oprah was desperate to keep the truth from being revealed ... The fallout was Keifer's highly publicized arrest.”
Meanwhile, TMZ continues to question Oprah’s inclusion of Dr. Jan Adams on her 2003 plastic surgery show. That’s the guy who operated on Kanye West’s mother just before her death. TMZ’s simple research quickly revealed multiple DUIs and malpractice suits, as well as the fact that Dr. Adams is not a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Oprah’s rep told TMZ that, “since we did not promote him as a cosmetic surgeon, there was no reason to do a background check on him.”
However, a video posted on TMZ’s Web site reveals an interaction between Oprah and an audience member interested in plastic surgery. As TMZ points out, “Oprah, who is sitting next to Dr. Adams, says, ‘Let me see if I can hook you up.’ Oprah then leans into Dr. Adams and says, ‘We may know somebody.’”
The pop divorcee started her Thursday by taking her chauffeured Escalade to the Four Seasons where she shared breakfast with kids Jean Preston and Jayden James. The court-appointed monitor followed the family in a separate car, according to Us.
After the kids went to K-Feds for the big meal, Britney hit the West Hollywood Virgin Megastore where she bought a CD and a movie. On Friday, free from the children she’s court ordered not to drive, Britney hit the post-holiday road (sans chauffer) where, according to an Us-obtained video, she ran three stop signs. Gotta hurry — Kohl’s Vera Wang is half off, ya’ll!
Dish on the flyApparently Alec Baldwin’s work behavior is even worse than his father/daughter voice mails, according to the National Enquirer’s Mike Walker. “It doesn’t take much to set him off,” one “30 Rock” source reported. “He screams at the writers and the prop people — but mostly the director. But he’s smart enough not to lash out at castmates like Tina Fey, or he’d be looking for work right now.” … Something’s rotten in the New York subway system, and according to OK!, it’s Heath Ledger. “I got quite a whiff,” said one unfortunate strap hanger who encountered the A-list commuter. “He smelled pretty unwashed.”
