Mindy Kaling talks crushes, her ideal husband and why her new book is 'juicy'

It's always a good time when Mindy Kaling visits TODAY, and on Monday we learned more Mindy means even more fun!

"The Mindy Project" star stopped by Studio 1A to talk about her new book ("Why Not Me?") and answer a few "probing personal questions." She even ended up sticking around to co-host the 9 o'clock hour and more.

The good times got off to a great start when Kaling sat down with Savannah Guthrie to talk about why TODAY gets so many mentions in "Why Not Me?"

"I'm obsessed with you guys!" the actress-writer said. "I think you all live in a treehouse together."

She also thinks the whole TODAY gang shares something else.

"I say in the book — as a joke — that you guys only look this good because you're all wearing giant, interesting wigs that you change out every day," she added with a smile.

But the TODAY mentions don't end there. Kaling also writes at length about one of her TODAY crushes — Carson Daly — but what happened to her other TODAY crush, Willie Geist?

"I just want to keep it interesting," she explained. "I don't want Willie [Geist] to get too comfortable. With Carson, who knows what that's going to be after today? We'll see."

After all that guy-talk, Guthrie asked Kaling who her ideal husband would be, and the answer was a simple one: "Tall, kind, and employed," she said.

Then Kaling chimed in on one tall guy in particular — Patriots quarterback and the man in the middle of Deflate-Gate, Tom Brady.

"Hey, I'm from Boston, so I've got to tread lightly," she said of the controversy surrounding him. "I think he is in a wonderful relationship with his wife, Gisele, and I can't imagine him doing anything untoward!"

Well that was certainly a bit more forgiving than the newly crowned Miss America's take on it.

Watch the clips for even more from the star, and you can check out Season 4 of "The Mindy Project" starting Tuesday on Hulu. "Why Not Me?" hits bookstores the same day.
