Fans of "The Mindy Project" might assume that Mindy Kaling is just like her onscreen character, but the actress says they're actually quite different — especially when it comes to dating.
When Kaling stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Wednesday, she revealed that her dates typically expect her to behave like Mindy Lahiri, and are surprised when she doesn't.
"I'm not very much like my character, who is very wild, and I think that when I go on dates there's this expectation that I'm going to have, like, 11 martinis and pass out and spend the night really soon," she told DeGeneres.
Kaling, 35, added, "People get a little disappointed ... I could never have a one-night stand because I have my medications that I have to take at night. I have to be at my house and, like, do my flossing."
The actress, who also voices Disgust in Pixar's upcoming animated film "Inside Out," joked, "Maybe you didn't want to know that."
