Teen sensation Miley Cyrus makes her first appearance as a guest mentor on "American Idol" this week and will perform her latest hit on Wednesday's results show, the Fox television network said on Monday.

Cyrus, 17, will give advice to the 11 remaining contestants as they prepare for a week of Billboard No. 1 hits for Tuesday's live TV performances.

Cyrus is also the first celebrity mentor on the TV singing contest this year, apart from guest judges such as Shania Twain and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham during the nationwide auditions rounds.

The star of Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" TV show will be joined by other young Disney music stars Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato as performers on the March 24 results show.

The contestants were originally expected to compete in a teen idol themed week, but the song list was changed to a more generic Billboard hits selection, Fox said.

Cyrus is currently promoting her upcoming new movie "The Last Song" — a romantic drama written by "The Notebook" author Nicholas Sparks — which also stars her current boyfriend, Australian newcomer Liam Hemsworth, as her love interest.

Lovato stars on Disney Channel's "Sonny With A Chance" series and Jonas is a member of the popular boy band The Jonas Brothers.

Viewers will vote off another of the remaining singers this week as "American Idol" counts down to its May climax.
