Michelle Rodriguez is certainly not staying silent about her 180 day jail sentence, which was handed down yesterday.
Rodriguez was sentenced to six months in jail for failing to complete community service and alcohol monitoring as part of her probation from a previous drunk driving incident.
“Let’s count all the things that have happened to Michelle Rodriguez since 2005 in Hawaii ... and then you tell me how you feel,” the actress began when interviewed by a paparazzi agency outside of her house yesterday.
“I got community service, I got a bracelet, I did 75 or 60 something days on the bracelet. I did about 25 some odd days community service at the county sheriff’s office — clerical work, cleaning up the office, stuff like that … ” the actress began.
And the penance hasn’t come cheaply for her.
“In 2005, the case all together, the violation of probation here, and in LA, and then out there in Hawaii, all together cost me about $100 grand. I lost my house, lost my cars — that hurt,” she said.
But the loss of work was apparently worse.
“(The finances) wasn’t as bad as not working for about two years,” she said laughing. “You know, ‘cause then people have a hard time trusting you. They think that you’re like ... I don’t know, reckless or something.”
However, Rodriguez says that she’s turned a corner now, and she’s self-reportedly seemingly attached to James Cameron’s new film project, “Avatar.”
“Let’s just say that my wild days are over… the judge gave an order to go let me go shoot this movie with James Cameron, she was very graceful (sic) to go let me shoot my movie ... I have to go turn myself in on Christmas Eve.”
Still, she was critical of her harsh sentence.
“Let’s look at what other people get for their three DUI’s. Just take a look at it — just take a look at all the cases and all the people that have been stuck with stuff. I guess, you know, it’s probably pretty rough what I’ve done. I’m taking complete responsibility for everything and I’m doing as I’m told, so you know, that’s all I can do — I really have no power to do otherwise ... I just take it like a woman, you know what I mean?”
