The novelty of a new love and a recently expanded family may have already worn off for actor-director Mel Gibson. Though the star’s girlfriend, Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva, has praised her partner publicly, a source close to Gibson insists he rarely has time for Grigorieva or their six-week-old daughter, Lucia.

“Mel can go days without even stopping by Oksana’s home and checking in on Lucia — much less feeding her, putting her down for a nap or changing a diaper,” the family friend told the National Enquirer.

That hardly sounds like the “hands-on” and “tremendous” doting dad Grigorieva described to Hello! magazine just one month ago. Then again, maybe Grigorieva, who gave birth just days before the interview, didn’t give Gibson enough time before issuing a proper parental review. After all, according to the Enquirer’s source, the distant dad routine isn’t a new one for the father of eight.

“Mel tells Oksana he isn’t raising Lucia any differently than he did his other passel of kids, and that (his estranged wife, Robyn Gibson) really did the raising,” the friend assured.

Responding to the star’s recent comments to London’s Sunday Telegraph wherein she stated that paparazzi make it “impossible” for her to live in her former hometown of Sydney, Australia, lensman Jamie Fawcett said Kidman should simply find another line of work.

“I don't have a personal vendetta against Nicole Kidman,” Fawcett explained in a radio interview with Australia’s 2GB. “These are Machiavellian games that are being played and they are just not right. If she doesn't want to be photographed she should change her profession and become a butcher.”

Those eyebrow-raising and network-jolting stage maneuvers Adam Lambert included in his American Music Awards performance may have been the “American Idol” alum’s way of ensuring, if nothing else, that he keeps people watching. “(My biggest fear is) that people won’t want to buy the rest of my music; that people will stop being interested,” the singer confessed in a quote posted to OKmagazine.com. … She’s not known for making diva demands, but according to Showbiz Spy, that’s just what R&B artist Alicia Keys did when faced with a free stay at London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel. “The hotel had been in discussion with Alicia’s team for a week, preparing her suite with her favorite flowers, scents and goodies,” a source explained. “But when they saw the Luxury Suite, Alicia and her people asked for something bigger. They were told there wasn’t anything bigger and that the Luxury Suite was the biggest and best in the hotel.” Allegedly, the best wasn’t good enough for the Grammy winner, who soon left for larger lodgings. “Basically, Alicia took one look and said she ‘didn’t feel the vibe.’ ” … Hours before taking a self-imposed “Twitterbreak” for the holidays, Disney’s Demi Lovato sent a special tweet to old Saint Nick. “Dear Santa, I want a boy for Christmas... wanna hook a sista up?!” the teen queen wrote, adding, “Oh, and not just any boy.. one that holds the door open for you, and writes hand written letters, and spends time with the (parents).. ya hurrd?”
