Media and merchandising conglomerate Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. said Tuesday that it signed with cable company Discovery Communications to rebroadcast Stewart’s upcoming daytime TV show and air a new home improvement reality series.

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal, which also gives Discovery the right to distribute some of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia’s existing shows.

Omnimedia said the deal provides for the “Martha” television show to be rebroadcast on Discovery’s The Learning Channel — also known as TLC — each evening on the same day as the original broadcast, syndicated by General Electric Co.’s NBC Universal. The company expects to launch “Martha” on Sept. 12.

In addition, Discovery will broadcast a home improvement show in which six women in the middle of large life transitions will work with a member of an Omnimedia design team to renovate their homes.

Discovery Communications is a partnership between Discovery Holding Co., Cox Communications Inc. and privately held Advance/Newhouse Communications. Discovery Holding owns 50 percent of the venture and the other partners each own 25 percent.

Omnimedia shares rose 43 cents to $28.19 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange, while shares of Discovery Holding fell 7 cents to $13.98 on the Nasdaq.
