Mario's mom has come clean.

Shawntia Hardaway, who accused her son of getting violent with her last month, admitted in a Baltimore court today that she had been drinking at the time of their altercation and requested that the case against her son be dropped.

Prosecutors subsequently dropped the singer's second-degree assault charge.

So, did mother and son then kiss and make up?

"Anyone who has waged the battle to save loved ones from the forces of drugs knows the irrational behavior that almost always accompanies their actions," Mario's attorney, William Murphy III told the Baltimore Sun. "Mario remains committed to supporting his mother."

Hardaway has battled alcohol and heroin addiction, and Murphy had attributed the incident to her being intoxicated at the time.

"It was clear from the beginning that Mario never touched or struck his mother," Murphy added. "She was under the influence of drugs when she gave her statement to police. To her credit, she corrected her statement in court today."

Hardaway's lawyer said that his client was simply upset when she filled out her complaint and told police that she feared for her life, acknowledging that "it was much to do about nothing."

Mario opened the nonprofit Do Right Foundation, which provides mentoring to children of addicts, in Baltimore in 2007.
