Italians have a few more weeks to practice their fist pumps.

Although Snooki, The Situation, JWoww, Pauly D and the other castmates of Jersey Shore were due to leave for Italy on April 14, a source confirms to E! News that production has been delayed for "at least a few weeks".

Did the backlash from Italians cause MTV to reconsider their shooting plans?

Not exactly.

While a show tells E! News that producers are having trouble getting permits to film around Florence, a rep for the Italian Film Commission says that's not true.

"We haven't been contacted by anyone from MTV and any location manager for the show. Generally speaking, Italy is a film-friendly place," the spokesman says.

In fact, the Italian Riviera said they actually reached out to MTV to offer their locations.

Another possible delay? Several castmates haven't signed their contracts yet.

While several Italian officials and commentators, blasting the show's negative stereotypes, have stated that Jersey Shore isn't welcome in the old country, a show source insists to E! News that some castmates aren't too keen on staying in the motherland that long, either.

MTV had no comment on the snafu, but a network insider says that producers might scrap the idea of basing the entire season three in Italy and instead "make it more of a vacation than them actually living there."

Which means Seaside Heights could once again lay claim to its most famous landmark: the leaning towers of Snooki.
